Remote Home Learning

Different Types of RHL

As part of our Home Learning program here at MAHPS we will provide two different types of learning— partial and fully supported learning and this is based on the following situations:

1. Individual child is self-isolating waiting for a test—Partial Supported Home Learning

2. Individual child is self-isolating for 14 days—Partial Supported Home Learning

3. Class or Year group is closed and your family is self-isolating for 14 days—Fully Supported Remote Learning.

4. Lockdown - Blended learning - this cover the periods of time during national lcokdown or school closure.

Partially Supported RHL

Partial Supported Remote Learning

This partially supported remote learning is based on the ability of the school and teachers to respond to children at home while still teaching in school.

Individual child is self isolating waiting for a test...

In the event that your child is off school and waiting for a test we will provide the following remote learning and communication:

1. Daily check in communications via Microsoft Teams.

2. Daily activities provided on Purple Mash to include:

· 1 reading activity

· 1 Maths activity

· 1 English grammar activity

· 1 topic activity

Child self –isolating for 14 days...

In the event that your child has to self isolate for 14 days we will provide a range of activities via assignments in Microsoft Teams, daily activities using Purple Mash as well as guiding you to use White Rose Maths hub for your daily maths lessons.

We will provide:

1 Maths activity a day—White Rose Maths Hub

1 Reading Activity a day—Purple Mash

1 English activity a day—Teams Assignments and Purple Mash

1 Topic Activity a day– Teams Assignment and Purple Mash

Full Supported RHL

Year group or Class Closure...

In the event that a whole class or year group bubble is closed due to a positive test we will switch all the children in those bubbles to Fully Supported Remote Home Learning. This will be done in the following way:

1. Daily communication via Microsoft Teams

2. Activities set using Teams Assignments

3. Live video lessons via Microsoft Teams

4. Use of Purple Mash to provide activities and resources to support the teachers live teaching.

How will this work?

Your child’s teacher will contact your child via Teams at 9am, where a register will be taken. They will expect your child to be dressed and ready for learning by this time. The children will then take part in live lessons.

What will a live lesson look like?

After this, the teacher will provide the first lesson, which will include about 10-15 minutes of teacher input and your child will have a chance to ask questions here.

Following this, the children will be given an activity set in Teams Assignments. The teacher will stay on Teams to respond to children’s questions or support children who may need extra help.

After 15-20 minutes the teacher will bring the children back together and help them mark their work, assess their understand and respond to any issues.

What will a remote learning day look like?

9am—Registration—logging on at  between 8:50 –9am

9:15-10 am Lesson 1—Maths

10:10:45 Break

10:45 –11:30am Lesson 2—English (maybe reading, spelling and grammar)

11:30-1pm—Lunch

1-1:45pm— Lesson 3—Topic session

This schedule may change according to year group or teachers available to teach.

Preparing for RHL

Preparing for Home Learning…

The school has been asked by the government to ensure we have a working Remote Learning program in place by the end of September.

To ensure we are prepared in the event of the different isolation scenarios we have provided the following:

1. Ensured the admin and IT has been provided to ensure our teachers and children can access both Teams and Purple Mash. Your children will be provided with a Journal that has their passwords in for Teams, Purple Mash and Bug Club.

2. They will also be given an exercise book where we expect them to complete all their work over their isolation period.

3. Teachers have been trained using Teams and Purple Mash to ensure they can deliver the Remote Learning.

4. In the event families do not have IT devices at home we may be able to access the Governments laptops’ for home learning program to provide support accessing Remote Home Learning.

5. Your children have been taught how to use Teams and Purple Mash.

6. We have revisited important learning about online safety.

7. We will provide direction to families to help support your use of Teams.

Remote Home Learning Agreement

We are aiming to keep access to learning and teaching open through a difficult time and staff are working hard to provide lessons via online systems. This style of Remote Home Learning is new to all our staff so we ask you to please be patient with us and assist and support us in these difficult times.

Therefore, while we all embrace this new way of working, we are asking all pupils, parents and staff to agree to abide by a number of important principles and practice as outlined below. These are inline with the school’s Remote Home Learning Safeguarding Policy

As parents:

I will always be polite and positive towards ALL members of the MAHPS staff in ALL the messages I send, or information I upload.

I will not upload, post, share or forward material that could be considered offensive, harmful or illegal, and if I see others doing this, I will report it to my child’s teacher.

I will ensure my children dress appropriately for online lessons.

I will make sure that my child has all the tools they need in advance.

I will make sure my child has a safe work space (not in a bedroom) and they are not disturbed or distracted during the lesson, including by other family members. I will ensure they either use the blur background option in Teams or have a neutral background.

I will support my child to complete exercises as directed by their teacher and return completed work to meet the deadlines set by their teacher.

I understand that Teams is limited to my child, the staff and fellow pupils. I will not invite any guests from outside the School. I will not under any circumstances provide my child’s login details to anyone else.

I will not share my child or others’ personal information unless I have been given permission by my child’s teacher to do so.

I will not take secret photos, recordings or videos of teachers or other students from online sessions my child participates in.

I will only contact a member of staff via Teams, Purple Mash not their work email address.

I will not criticize the teacher’s working practice in front of my child, to another parent or on devices or on social media. If I need to raise a concern about the content my child is being taught, the way it is delivered or how your child is dealing with the activities given, I will contact the teacher politely by email afterwards.

As a pupil:

I will treat myself and others with respect at all times; when I am online or using a device, I will treat everyone as if I were talking to them face to face in a classroom.

I will always be polite and sensible in the messages I send, or information I upload,

I will not upload, post, share or forward material that could be considered offensive, harmful or illegal, and if I see others doing this, I will report it to my teacher.

I will choose a sensible place to work from so that what people see online is appropriate.

I will dress appropriately for online lesson

I understand that my online lessons maybe be monitored by senior leaders from the school.

I will make sure that I have all the tools I need in advance, so that I do not have to leave my desk and interrupt the flow of the lesson.

I will make sure I am not disturbed or distracted during the lesson, including by other family members.

I will complete exercises as directed by my teacher and upload completed work to meet the deadlines set by my teacher

I understand that Teams is limited to me, the staff and my fellow pupils. I will not invite any guests from outside the School. I will not under any circumstances provide my login details to anyone else.

I will not share my or others’ personal information unless I have been given permission by my teacher to do so.

I will not take secret photos, recordings or videos of teachers or other students from online sessions I participate in.

I will only contact a member of staff via Teams, Purple Mash not their work email address.

As a Teacher:

I will use the ‘waiting room’ function to prevent strangers from entering a Teams meeting.

I will dress appropriately, as I would in school.

I will set appropriate boundaries and behavioural expectations, and maintain the same professional standards as at school.

I will correspond professionally in tone and content.

I will never conduct a live session with only one pupil unless prearranged with the DSL or Safeguarding team.

I will end a live ‘meeting’ if only one pupil remains online for more than 2 minutes.

I will contact pupils only through Purple Mash email accounts or Teams Posts or via their parents’ email accounts.  I will not contact children by phones (unless using Teams Meet as part of a scheduled class online lesson), private email or social media accounts.

I will never conduct lessons from a bedroom or a shared personal space.

I will conduct lessons in a quiet space, preferably against a neutral background, ensuring that friends and family are never visible during a lesson. I will use the Teams blur background option.

I will conduct lessons within the times identified in the MAHPs Remote Home Learning timetable, within the normal school day.

I will provide lesson and content in accordance to the MAHPs Remote Home Learning guide lines.
